Dominican Bouyon Star Celebrates Life and Faith with Powerful New Single After Beating Cancer
Roseau, Dominica — In a remarkable show of faith, strength, and creativity, Dominican Bouyon star Trilla-G has released his latest single, “Congratulations,” a heartfelt anthem born from his personal battle with cancer. The release follows the artist’s announcement that he is now officially cancer-free as of February 5, 2026.
Known for his high-energy performances and Billboard-recognized musical career, Trilla-G (real name Gael Jno Baptiste) shared the news with fans this week in a moving message that detailed his unexpected diagnosis in July 2025, and the emotional and physical journey that followed.
“Cancer was not a word I ever imagined hearing connected to my name… There were moments of fear, moments of exhaustion… But through it all, I held on to my faith,” said the artist.
A Year of Quiet Strength and Public Triumph
Despite undergoing intensive treatment, Trilla-G continued to perform throughout 2025. He took the stage at Virginia and Miami Carnivals, the UberSoca Cruise, and in Aruba. His appearance at Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) was a career-defining moment — taking place just days after he released his debut full-length project, Take Me As I Am: The Album.
“When I showed up, it took everything in me. And when I could not, my body simply would not allow it,” he later shared.
Behind the scenes, Trilla-G was in the fight of his life. That silent battle now fuels “Congratulations” — a song that is equal parts praise and reflection.
A Song Rooted in Gratitude and Caribbean Resilience
“The song is about gratitude,” Trilla-G said in a statement. “Grateful to still be here. Grateful for life, for faith, for people who stand by you — and reminding others not to wait for the worst to happen before they appreciate the blessings around them.”
Sonically, “Congratulations” blends the pulsating rhythms of Bouyon with deep lyrical emotion — reflecting both the pain and the triumph of his cancer experience. The single features Th3rd (USVI) and is produced by Andel “Fr3EzE” Horsford and Dernel Green, with additional writing credits from Shane Maloone, Christon Jno Baptiste, and live guitar by Giovannie Green.
The official music video, released just two days after his final treatment, serves as a symbolic close to one chapter — and the beginning of a new one. Directed by 365MMP, the video carries creative vision from Tridel Edwin, Anthony Nibbs, and Trilla-G himself.
Dominica’s Carnival Season Just Got Deeper
With Dominica’s Real Mas Carnival season now in full swing, “Congratulations” offers fans not only a reason to dance — but a deeper reason to celebrate. As one of the island’s brightest musical ambassadors, Trilla-G heads into the Carnival season with renewed energy, purpose, and a powerful reminder of what truly matters.
Now streaming on all major platforms, “Congratulations” is more than a fete track — it’s a testament to resilience, a bouyon-laced love letter to life, and a powerful statement from one of the Caribbean’s most dynamic artists.
