Macka B, Jesse Royal and Shiwa Lead First Amsterdam Reggae Festival 2027 Announcements

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Amsterdam Reggae Festival has begun building its 2027 winter lineup with British-Jamaican veteran Macka B, Jamaican roots singer Jesse Royal and Swedish artist Shiwa among the first performers confirmed.

The festival takes place Saturday, February 27, 2027, at De Kromhouthal in Amsterdam and is being positioned as an indoor winter celebration of reggae and Caribbean culture.

Macka B Brings Four Decades of Reggae

Macka B arrives with a career spanning more than four decades across roots reggae, dub and dancehall. His catalogue is known for conscious themes delivered through a distinctive vocal style.

The veteran artist released “Memories” on July 23, 2026, through Chinelo Records. Recorded over the Diverse Doctrine Riddim, the song looks back at the reggae and dancehall culture of an earlier era and was issued digitally and on seven-inch vinyl.

Jesse Royal Represents Contemporary Roots

Jesse Royal brings a younger generation of Jamaican roots reggae to the festival. His catalogue includes “Modern Day Judas,” “Finally” and “LionOrder,” alongside the albums “Lily of da Valley” and “Royal.”

Shiwa adds a Scandinavian presence to the first wave of announced performers, giving the opening lineup an international character.

A Winter Reggae Festival in Amsterdam

De Kromhouthal will host the February 27 festival. Public listings describe an indoor programme combining live reggae and dancehall with soundsystem culture, Caribbean food and an island-market atmosphere.

More artists and programme details are expected to be announced as organizers continue building the lineup.
