Vershon Releases “A Mother Like You” Ahead of Mother’s Day

Dancehall Artist Vershon Honours Mothers and Women with New Single

KINGSTON, JAMAICA — Jamaican dancehall artist Vershon has released a new single titled “A Mother Like You,” a tribute celebrating mothers, teachers, and women who serve as nurturing figures in society.

The track, officially released on May 6, was produced in collaboration with U.S.-based Jenelle Alexia of A’Legends Productions and serves as the second single from the upcoming EP To A Queen.

The release coincided with Teachers’ Day in Jamaica and arrives just days before Mother’s Day celebrations across North America and other parts of the world.

A Song Celebrating Strength and Sacrifice

According to Jenelle Alexia, the timing of the release aligned naturally with the message behind the song.

“It was a mere coincidence that I had set the release date on Teachers’ Day in Jamaica. This goes to show that when the universe aligns, all things work together for the good,” she stated.

Alexia said the single is intended to recognize the resilience and sacrifices made by women in caregiving and leadership roles.

“This song is about honoring mothers, teachers and women in general who nurture, teach and lead with strength,” she said.

“I decided it was needed at this time to inspire all mothers and all women to push on through the struggles and to let them know how loved they are and appreciated for all they do.”

Upcoming Music Video Release

The official music video for “A Mother Like You” is scheduled for release on Mother’s Day, further extending the tribute to women and maternal figures.

The song highlights the experiences of women balancing caregiving responsibilities while navigating personal and societal challenges, emphasizing appreciation and perseverance.

Building Toward the ‘To A Queen’ EP

“A Mother Like You” marks the second release from the forthcoming To A Queen EP, a project expected to continue exploring themes centered around women, empowerment, and relationships.

The collaboration also marks another partnership between Vershon and Jenelle Alexia following previous work together through A’Legends Productions.
