Soul Food Caribbean Festival Brings Capleton, Gyptian and D’Yani to Markham for Canada Day Celebration

Capleton returns to Canada after 16 years as Gyptian and D’Yani join the Soul Food Caribbean Festival lineup in Markham.

TORONTO – Caribbean music fans in the Greater Toronto Area will have an opportunity to celebrate Canada Day with some of reggae and dancehall’s most recognizable names when the Soul Food Caribbean Festival returns with its “Fire in the Park” edition on July 1, 2026.

The festival is scheduled to take place at 50 Esna Park Drive in Markham, Ontario, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Organizers have announced that the outdoor event will be open to guests aged 19 and older.

Capleton Returns to Canada After 16 Years

Headlining this year’s event is legendary reggae artist Capleton, who is set to make his first return to Canada in 16 years.

Known as one of reggae’s most influential performers, Capleton has built an international following through a catalogue of conscious reggae and dancehall music spanning several decades. His appearance is expected to be one of the major attractions of the festival’s Canada Day celebrations.

Gyptian and D’Yani Join the Lineup

Joining Capleton on the bill is Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist Gyptian, whose blend of reggae, dancehall and lovers rock has earned him a global audience.

Festival organizers have also confirmed that D’Yani will make his first-ever performance in Toronto during the event.

The combination of established reggae stars and emerging talent is expected to provide attendees with a diverse musical experience throughout the evening.

Canada Day Celebration in Markham

The Soul Food Caribbean Festival has become a gathering point for Caribbean culture enthusiasts, bringing together music, food and community during Canada’s national holiday celebrations.
