GraceKennedy Opens Applications for 2027 Jamaican Diaspora Birthright Programme

GraceKennedy will select four university students from the United States, Canada and United Kingdom for an all-expenses-paid six-week experience in Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica — GraceKennedy has opened applications for its 2027 Birthright Programme, seeking four second- or third-generation Jamaican university students from the diaspora for a six-week professional and cultural experience in Jamaica.

The all-expenses-paid programme combines internship placements within GraceKennedy’s Jamaican operations with cultural experiences designed to connect participants with the island’s history, culture and traditions.

Connecting Diaspora Students With Jamaica

Since its launch in 2004, more than 60 young people from the Jamaican diaspora have participated in the Birthright Programme.

“This is more than an internship. It’s an opportunity to discover where you come from while shaping your future,” GraceKennedy Ltd CEO Frank James said. “Through the Birthright Programme, GraceKennedy is investing in the next generation of leaders who will carry Jamaica’s story into communities and industries around the world.”

Four Students Will Be Selected

GraceKennedy will select two students from the United States, one from Canada and one from the United Kingdom for the 2027 programme.

Applicants must be second- or third-generation Jamaicans, between 18 and 25 years old, and enrolled at a university in one of those three countries.

Shortlisted applicants are expected to participate in in-person interviews in Miami, New York, Toronto and London in spring 2027. The selected students will be announced before the programme begins in June.

The 2026 programme was postponed due to Hurricane Melissa. GraceKennedy is now moving ahead with the 2027 cohort and inviting eligible Jamaican diaspora students to apply.

The programme offers participants both workplace experience and an opportunity to deepen their connection to Jamaica while developing professional skills.
