The Grammy and two-time JUNO Award-winning vocalist continues his rise across gospel, soul and Afrobeat with a new collaboration featuring Lecrae and production from Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.

TORONTO, ON  — Toronto-bred, Texas-based vocalist Ryan Ofei has released “Send Me,” a new single featuring Grammy-winning Christian hip-hop artist Lecrae and co-produced by acclaimed producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.

The release follows Ofei’s back-to-back JUNO Award wins for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year and extends a career that has taken the Canadian-raised singer from Toronto into an increasingly international gospel and contemporary music audience.

The track also brings together a wider production and performance team. According to the release, Nashville rapper, singer and songwriter Aaron Cole appears on the song, while Grammy-nominated producer Jordon Manswell worked on the production alongside Clayton Connell, Aquilas-Tresor Pindi and Isaiah La Roi Liburd.

A Major Collaboration for the Toronto-Bred Vocalist

“Send Me” pairs Ofei with two major figures in contemporary American music. Lecrae has built a career at the intersection of hip-hop and Christian faith, while Jerkins’ production credits span artists including Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, SZA and Michael Jackson.

For Ofei, the collaboration arrives as his solo career continues to develop following his work with Maverick City Music. The vocalist is a member of the Grammy-winning collective and gained international exposure through performances on the albums Jubilee and Kingdom Book One (Deluxe).

The new single also follows earlier solo releases including “Celebrate,” which Ofei’s publicity team describes as a multi-million-streaming track released during his emergence as a solo artist in 2024.

From Toronto to International Stages

Although now based in Dallas, Ofei was raised in Toronto, giving the release a direct connection to Canada’s contemporary gospel and R&B landscape.

His career has since taken him well beyond the city. According to the release, Ofei has toured internationally and performed at major venues including Barclays Center in New York and TD Garden in Boston.

That growth has been accompanied by Canadian industry recognition through consecutive JUNO wins in the Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year category.

Gospel, Soul and Afrobeat Meet on “Send Me”

Ofei’s work draws from gospel while incorporating soul and Afrobeat influences, positioning him within a generation of artists whose music crosses traditional genre boundaries.

“Send Me” continues that direction while adding the contrasting presence of Lecrae and the production experience of Jerkins and Ofei’s broader creative team.

The release is available through major streaming services.
