Kass Smith and Chuck Fenda Unite on Inspirational Reggae Single “The Chosen Ones”

Jamaican recording artists Kass Smith and Chuck Fenda have joined forces on “The Chosen Ones,” a reggae single built around themes of inner power, unity, spiritual awareness and personal balance.

Released September 18, 2026, the collaboration was produced by veteran saxophonist and producer Dean Fraser, with Smith serving as executive producer.

A Collaboration Built Around Purpose

The song developed from Smith’s interest in emotional, physical, spiritual and financial abundance. After being introduced to Chuck Fenda through Jennifer Cheshire of ReggaeWerx, Smith saw the veteran singer as a natural fit for a recording intended to encourage listeners to recognize their own potential.

The collaboration was not assembled in one studio. Work on the song stretched across several countries over approximately six months.

An International Recording Process

Smith began recording in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with Demoy Thomas. Chuck Fenda recorded his contribution in New Jersey, while the track was later reviewed and adjusted in Germany with Teacha Dee.

The project ultimately returned to Jamaica, where Smith completed the recording with Dean Fraser and Rommel Marshall.

That cross-border production reflects Smith’s own career. Born in Hanover, Jamaica, he has spent decades based in Mexico, where he built a bilingual career while maintaining his connection to Jamaican music.

Video Extends the Song’s Global Message

The official music video retains a Jamaican identity while incorporating visual elements connected to Latin America, Africa and other regions.

That approach mirrors the song’s wider message of unity while also reflecting Smith’s longstanding position between Jamaican and Latin American musical cultures.

Smith has spoken publicly about wanting to help Jamaican artists build stronger connections with audiences in Mexico, Central America, South America and Europe. His collaboration with Chuck Fenda is one example of that broader goal.
