Sister Nancy and Marcia Griffiths to Headline Reggae Ambassadors Concert in Toronto

TORONTO — Two influential women in Jamaican music, Sister Nancy and Marcia Griffiths, will share the stage at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre on Friday, October 9, for Reggae Ambassadors in Concert.

Presented by Kings of Kings International and billed as “Reggae Legends: One Stage, One Love,” the concert pairs a dancehall pioneer with one of reggae’s longest-standing vocal stars.

Two Jamaican Music Legacies on One Stage

Sister Nancy remains internationally associated with “Bam Bam,” a recording that has travelled far beyond its original dancehall setting through decades of continued listening, sampling and appearances across popular culture.

Griffiths brings a career stretching back to Jamaica’s ska and rocksteady era, later becoming part of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ I-Threes before establishing further solo success. “Electric Boogie” remains among her best-known recordings internationally.

Special Guests Expand the Bill

The Toronto concert will also feature Iley Dread, Jah Mason and Angie Angel. Promotional material highlights Iley Dread’s “Nah Cheat a Virtuous Woman,” Jah Mason’s “My Princess Gone” and Angie Angel’s “Man a Nuh Man If a Nuh Rasta Man.”

The combination gives the event a lineup spanning roots reggae, dancehall and Jamaican music across multiple generations.
