Roots reggae, food sovereignty and community empowerment take centre stage on July 11
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston’s annual celebration of roots reggae, family values and community empowerment is set to return this summer as the Conscious Reggae Concert (CRC): Family Unity Fest prepares for its third staging on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Held under the theme “From the Farm to the Fest,” the event will take place at Jamminz, located at 1 Park Place in New Kingston, next to Emancipation Park, bringing together musicians, community leaders, farmers and reggae enthusiasts for a full day of culture, education and entertainment.
The festival is scheduled to run from 12 p.m. until midnight.
Reggae Artists Unite for Family Unity Fest
Organizers have assembled a lineup rooted in conscious and cultural reggae music, featuring performances by legendary roots reggae group The Abyssinians alongside Isha Bel, Mary Isaacs, Ragga Lox, Binghi Blaze, Iystic, Icious Ras, Chi_Wara, Ibrave, Ijahnowah, Uton G and Mataraka.
Musical selections throughout the day will be provided by Teachas Sound and Webba Intl, while Talia Powers and Ron Muschette will serve as event hosts.
The event continues its mission of using reggae music as a platform to promote unity, positive messages and cultural awareness.
More Than a Music Festival
In addition to live performances, Family Unity Fest will feature a Mini Farmers Market designed to connect attendees with local agricultural producers and highlight the importance of sustainable food systems.
A special guest presentation by Dr. Khadamawa Knife will focus on food sovereignty and food security, issues that organizers say are increasingly important throughout Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
The educational component reflects the festival’s broader commitment to community development and self-sufficiency.
Supporting Community Initiatives
Part of the proceeds from the event will support the Good Over Evil Football Kick Off initiative, further strengthening the festival’s community-centered mission.
Organizers say the partnership aligns with the event’s goals of youth engagement, positive social development and community empowerment.
Celebrating Reggae Culture and Community
Since its launch, the Conscious Reggae Concert has grown into a gathering that extends beyond music, combining cultural expression, education, wellness and community action.
The 2026 edition aims to continue that tradition by creating a space where attendees can enjoy conscious reggae music while engaging in discussions about food security, sustainable living and social responsibility.
With a diverse lineup of performers, educational programming and family-friendly activities, Family Unity Fest is expected to attract reggae lovers and community supporters from across Kingston and beyond.
