Iba Mahr Keeps the Focus on Emotion in “Sweet Lies” Music Video

Kingston, Jamaica – Jamaican reggae singer Iba Mahr has released the official music video for “Sweet Lies,” a melancholic relationship song produced in collaboration with Kheilstone.

The video premiered September 18, 2026, following the single’s July 31 release through Audovic Nation under exclusive licence to UnitedMasters.

A Relationship Unravels in “Sweet Lies”

The song centres on a man who believes his partner’s feelings have changed even as she continues telling him otherwise.

Iba Mahr frames the conflict around the disconnect between spoken reassurance and visible emotion. The title “Sweet Lies” captures that tension: words meant to comfort become painful when the singer no longer believes them.

The track runs just over three minutes and is credited to Iba Mahr and Kheilstone.

Minimal Visual Keeps Attention on the Performance

Rather than building the video around a complicated storyline, the visual places Iba Mahr seated on a couch as he performs the song.

The stripped-down presentation keeps the focus on his vocal delivery, expression and the emotional weight of the lyrics.

That simplicity distinguishes the video from narrative-heavy reggae visuals. Instead of acting out each line, the production allows the performance itself to carry the story.

Continuing Iba Mahr’s Roots-Reggae Journey

Iba Mahr has built his career around a roots-oriented style marked by a distinctive high-register vocal approach and songs that move between social consciousness and relationships.

“Sweet Lies” places the emphasis on the latter, giving listeners a more intimate relationship record while retaining his reggae foundation.

The single is available on major digital platforms, while the official video is available through Iba Mahr’s YouTube channel.
