Jamaica and India Relations Strengthen Through High-Level Talks
KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Jamaica is moving to deepen its longstanding relationship with India following high-level bilateral discussions between Prime Minister Andrew Holness and India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
The meeting, held during Jaishankar’s official visit, focused on expanding cooperation across key sectors, including technology, healthcare, and cultural exchange, while reaffirming the historic friendship between the two nations.
“It was a pleasure to welcome Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar… for a productive bilateral discussion centered on the enduring friendship between our two nations,” Holness said in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Recognizing Past Support and Solidarity
Prime Minister Holness highlighted Jamaica’s appreciation for India’s support during critical moments, including the donation of COVID-19 vaccines and assistance following Hurricane Melissa.
“Acts of solidarity that are etched into our national memory,” Holness noted, underscoring the importance of international partnerships during times of crisis.
