Mocho Pear Festival Puts Jamaican Agriculture, Food and Reggae on One Stage

CLARENDON, Jamaica — Farmers, food, local enterprise and Jamaican music will come together at Lennon High School on Saturday, October 10, when the Mocho Pear Festival returns to celebrate one of the island’s best-known agricultural products.

The family-friendly festival is scheduled from noon until 7 p.m. and centres on avocado — widely called pear in Jamaica — while giving farmers, vendors and entrepreneurs a platform to showcase products from the region.

Celebrating Farmers and Jamaican Pear

The festival is designed around Mocho’s agricultural identity. Visitors can expect displays highlighting regional farming and creative culinary uses of avocado, alongside a marketplace for local entrepreneurs and vendors.

The 2026 staging was moved from an earlier planned date, with organizers confirming October 10 as the new date at Lennon High School.

Reggae Joins the Agricultural Showcase

Music will be a major part of the day’s programme. Duane Stephenson and Aaron Silk are among the reggae performers announced, alongside D Burnz, Iyasimba, the Gooden Sisters, Orkyd, Buzz and In2Nation Band.

Stephenson’s presence gives the entertainment programme a roots-reggae anchor while the broader bill mixes singers, groups and emerging performers.

A Community Festival With a Wider Purpose

The Mocho Pear Festival connects entertainment with support for Jamaican farming and local commerce. Public event listings encourage patrons to support farmers, eat locally and celebrate Jamaican agricultural culture.

The festival takes place Saturday, October 10, from noon to 7 p.m. at Lennon High School.
