Ms. Letna Healing Hope Foundation Marks 10 Years of Cancer Awareness and Community Action

Ms. Letna Healing Hope Foundation marks a decade of cancer awareness, fundraising and community action

SCARBOROUGH, ON — The Ms. Letna Healing Hope Foundation is marking a decade of its Healing Hope Brunch as it prepares for the 10th annual event on October 25 in Scarborough.

The organization says its fundraising and awareness initiatives have generated more than $50,000 since 2013, supporting cancer-related programs and community organizations in Canada and Jamaica.

A Mission Shaped by Cancer Experience

The Healing Hope initiative grew out of founder Letna Allen-Rowe’s experience with breast cancer. Over the years, the annual brunch and related activities have been used to raise awareness and funds while bringing community members together around cancer support.

This year’s event continues that work as the organization marks the brunch’s 10th anniversary.

Supporting Organizations in Canada and Jamaica

Proceeds from the 2026 event will support Scarborough Health Network’s Cancer Care Program at Centenary, the Jamaica Cancer Society and TAIBU Community Health Centre.

The mix of beneficiaries reflects the initiative’s connections to both the Greater Toronto Area and Jamaica, extending its fundraising across local and Caribbean communities.

A Decade of Community Fundraising

The foundation’s 10-year milestone provides an opportunity to look at the role community-led organizations play in cancer awareness, fundraising and support networks.

The October 25 gathering will continue a campaign that the organization says has raised more than $50,000 since 2013.
