Edmonton Reggae Festival 2026 will celebrate Caribbean culture, reggae music, and community in Alberta

The Edmonton Reggae Festival International has officially announced the return of its annual celebration for Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, with Jamaican reggae artist Turbulence confirmed as the festival’s headline performer.

The 12th annual staging will take place at William Hawrelak Park in Edmonton, Alberta, with gates opening at noon.

Festival organizers say the event will once again spotlight reggae music, Caribbean heritage, food, and multicultural community engagement while expanding its family-focused programming for 2026.

Family-Friendly Festival Expands With Children’s Area

This year’s edition will introduce a dedicated children’s corner featuring youth-centered activities and entertainment aimed at younger attendees.

Organizers say the addition reflects the festival’s continued focus on intergenerational celebration, cultural education, and community unity through reggae music and Caribbean cultural experiences.

The Edmonton Reggae Festival has increasingly positioned itself as a family-oriented cultural event rather than solely a live concert experience, helping broaden its reach across Alberta communities.

Turbulence Brings Conscious Reggae Message to Edmonton

Turbulence joins a growing list of internationally recognized reggae performers who have headlined the Edmonton festival over the years.

The reggae artist, discovered and mentored by legendary Jamaican producer Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell, became widely known through conscious reggae recordings focused on spirituality, resilience, empowerment, and social awareness.

Songs including Notorious, Criminal, and X-Girlfriend helped establish his reputation within reggae culture, while newer releases such as “For Me” and “Rasta Dance” continue showcasing his longevity within the genre.

Festival organizers described the upcoming performance as part of a broader celebration of “reggae culture, unity, and community under the open sky.”

Canadian and Caribbean Artists Also Featured

The 2026 lineup will also include performances by Montreal-based Miss Diva, Toronto-based Donna Makeda, Empress Divine, Rammadon, Edmonton-based Knotty Royal, Shampane Di TopBanga, Saint, and The Full 100 Band.

The festival continues emphasizing support for both international reggae performers and emerging Canadian reggae talent.

Since its founding in 2014, the Edmonton Reggae Festival Society has hosted artists including Luciano, Capleton, Queen Ifrica, Ky-Mani Marley, Richie Spice, Warrior King, and Fantan Mojah.

Reggae Festival Continues Growing in Western Canada

Organizers say the festival remains committed to reggae music’s message of “One Love,” using Caribbean culture and live entertainment to connect people across backgrounds and generations.

The continued growth of the Edmonton Reggae Festival reflects the expanding presence of reggae and Caribbean cultural events throughout Canada, particularly in cities with increasingly diverse multicultural communities.
