Deep South Riddim Spotlights Reggae From Trinidad and Tobago

Rebel Kornerstone Productions pairs Blessed Messenger and Jah Guidance on a two-artist roots reggae project spanning inspirational and lovers-rock themes.

Trinidad and Tobago — Rebel Kornerstone Productions is putting a spotlight on Trinidad and Tobago’s reggae scene with the “Deep South Riddim,” a roots reggae project featuring Blessed Messenger and Jah Guidance.

The project brings together two Trinidad and Tobago reggae artists on a shared roots reggae production.

Two Artists, Two Themes

Blessed Messenger contributes “Never Alone,” an inspirational reggae-gospel song centred on faith and the belief that God’s presence remains constant even during periods of isolation.

Jah Guidance takes the riddim in a lovers-rock direction with “Fight For You,” a relationship song about protecting a partnership and refusing to allow outside pressures to come between the couple.

A Compact Riddim Project

Unlike multi-artist riddim compilations that can feature numerous vocalists, the Deep South Riddim is built around two performers. The contrasting subject matter allows the same production to support both a faith-centred song and a romantic track.

Rebel Kornerstone Productions is using the release to increase visibility for reggae made in Trinidad and Tobago.

Reggae Beyond Jamaica

The project reflects reggae’s wider Caribbean presence, with artists and producers outside Jamaica continuing to work within the genre.

The Deep South Riddim features Blessed Messenger’s “Never Alone” and Jah Guidance’s “Fight For You.”
