Kingston,
Jamaica –
Jamaican reggae dancehall
artist Major Brandish is preparing to launch his
“No Violence School Tour” this week, beginning at Old Harbour Primary School in St. Catherine on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns surrounding incidents of violence among students in Jamaican schools, with the artist using music, motivational speaking, and youth engagement to encourage peace and positive behaviour.
According to organizers, the tour will combine live performances with educational and community-focused activities aimed at inspiring students through entertainment and mentorship.
Career Day Event to Feature Dance for Peace Competition
The opening stop at Old Harbour Primary School will form part of the institution’s Career Day activities.
Major Brandish is expected to close the event with a medley performance that includes a Dance for Peace competition, where participating students will compete for gold medals and a championship trophy.
The artist will be supported by a lineup of performers including Jah Bradish, King Malakiyah, Richi Bangin, and Ikobe.
Motivational speaker and attorney-at-law Denniese Walker will also participate in the event, adding an educational and inspirational component to the school tour.
Additional Jamaican Schools Included on Tour
Organizers confirmed that three additional schools are currently scheduled as part of the initiative:
- Central Branch Primary
- Constant Spring Primary
- St. Andrew Primary
Major Brandish explained that the tour was developed in response to increasing concerns surrounding violence among young people.
“The school tour comes in the wake of a series of violent attacks by students on their schoolmates,” the entertainer stated.
“As entertainers, we cannot turn a blind eye to anything which seeks to destroy our good image, and must condemn and arrest lawlessness in society. We must remind students they are our future leaders,” he added.
Artist Preparing for International Festival Performances
Beyond the school initiative, Major Brandish is also preparing for a series of international appearances as he continues expanding his fanbase across the Caribbean, Canada, Europe, and Africa.
“This tour will definitely open doors to a number of reggae festivals which I need at this time,” the artist stated.
Upcoming performances include Legends of The Caribbean – A Tribute to Dennis Brown at the Meridian Theatre in Ottawa on June 26, 2026.
Additional appearances are scheduled for:
- Vancouver Reggae Sunsplash at Hungarian Hall on Sept. 19
- London Reggae Fest at Covent Garden Market on Sept. 20
- Fusion and Reggae Fest at Fusion Lounge in Toronto
The tour is being organized by ShortyB Production.
Artist Continues Building Catalogue and International Reach
Born Glastone Brown, Major Brandish has steadily built a catalogue of reggae and dancehall music over the years.
Among his earlier releases are Rugged Road, Why Hate Me, and Love Again, released in 2013.
He later followed with tracks including Niceness, Tippy Wine, and Turn Up The Vibes in 2015, before releasing Love Again, Raw Cash, and Through The Storm in 2022.
The artist also recalled Sting and GT Extravaganza in 2013 among his favourite career performances.
As reggae and dancehall artists increasingly use their platforms for community outreach and youth engagement, the No Violence School Tour represents another effort within Jamaican entertainment circles to address social challenges through culture and music.
